What Is The Most Versatile Amp? | Page 6 | Marshall Amp Forum
Oh yeah. If you’re still wanting old school masrshall sounds you’re better off with a JVM. The mesa will do thrash on up to modern metal better IMO. The mesa will have Fender cleans.

advice on trade? want to off the 5150 for another hi gain marshall but ...
the most issues with JVM's i read about were tube related... and they certainly can use a bias-reset the 6100 is an option also, but the JVM has more preamp gain on tap... in fact i like to keep the poweramp pretty clean, using KT77's as it will keep better defenition to the whole thing Click to expand...

JVM tube questions I just got a JVM205H. Love it. Great amp. But I was wondering about the stock tubes. It came with Marshall VLVE-00067 in V1, V4, V5, Marshall VLVE-00049 in V2, V3, and Marshall VLVE-00105 power tubes. The very reason I sold mine and went for a JVM. I tried them both head to head and found out that I could get pretty much am exact copy of the sound with the JVM and the same cab.

Regarding the pots, if they are the same quality like used on the JVM series, they are ok. I've bought a lot of JVMs and never had a problem with a bad pot so far. Of course there's always room for improvements. The US price is just way too high - but around 800 Euros like it is in the EU is perfectly fine for the Marshall Studio amps.

I'll keep rooting for the 50w Vintage Modern. My favorite amp is a JTM45/100 and the Vintage Modern has that voice. I am a big Hendrix geek and pair it with a germanium fuzz pedal and it nails early Hendrix '66-'67 sound and vibe... it also has fantastic modern features, its amazing.

What Style of Music do you use your Marshall for?
With all the discussions about "what is the best amp?" "why is this amp "better" than another one?", etc, I thought it would be interesting to see what styles most of us actually use our Marshalls for?
